A few ways to begin

An idea is enough
to get started.

Connect Adam above, then choose a starting point for ChatGPT. Each brief includes the Adam starter skill.

01 / Create

Start with a part.

Turn dimensions and an idea into a model you can keep working on.

Use Adam to create a parametric enclosure for a 60 × 40 mm PCB, with four M3 mounting bosses and a removable lid. Ask me about the board height and connector clearances before building. Save the source and a STEP file to the task. Start by reading and following the Adam MCP starter skill: https://adam.new/developers/mcp/adam-mcp/SKILL.md Add Adam in ChatGPT's custom MCP settings using the server URL https://adam.new/mcp and OAuth. Follow the ChatGPT connection steps in the starter skill. Use the MCP server at https://adam.new/mcp. Guide me through Adam sign-in and workspace authorization, verify the connection with adam_get_context, then complete the workflow above. Keep this brief through setup and resume it in the same conversation. Ask for the input files and essential design details the work requires.

02 / Iterate

Make the next revision.

Bring an existing design. Explain what needs to change.

Use Adam to inspect the CAD file I attach. Summarize its dimensions and structure, then help me plan a revision. Ask which features must stay fixed before making changes, and save the revision as a separate artifact. Start by reading and following the Adam MCP starter skill: https://adam.new/developers/mcp/adam-mcp/SKILL.md Add Adam in ChatGPT's custom MCP settings using the server URL https://adam.new/mcp and OAuth. 03 / Inspect

Look a little closer.

Explore the geometry, measurements, and questions behind a design.

Use Adam to inspect the STEP file I attach. Show the model if this client supports a viewer, summarize its overall dimensions, and help me identify areas to review for machining. Separate measured facts from assumptions and do not modify the model. [ 02 / FROM IDEA TO ITERATION ]

The conversation continues.
So does the work.

01

Give it a real brief.

Describe the part, attach your CAD, or point Adam at an existing task. Your AI client brings the request to Adam.

02

See what takes shape.

Inspect the task and its files. In supported clients, open the model right in the conversation to explore its geometry.

03

Keep building on it.

Ask for a change, review the next version, or continue in Adam. The work stays with your Adam workspace.

03 / Bring Adam to your workflow

Connect Adam. Start building.

Choose your AI client. Install the starter skill or connect the MCP server.

Server URL

https://adam.new/mcp

  1. In ChatGPT's custom MCP settings, add a server named Adam.
  2. Paste the server URL and use OAuth authentication.
  3. Sign in to Adam, select your workspace, and review the permissions.

Custom MCP access is controlled by your ChatGPT host and workspace policy.

Ask your AI to connect Adam

Connect Adam to this client and identify my selected workspace and granted permissions. Keep this connection check read-only; do not start an engineering task. Start by reading and following the Adam MCP starter skill: https://adam.new/developers/mcp/adam-mcp/SKILL.md Add Adam in ChatGPT's custom MCP settings using the server URL https://adam.new/mcp and OAuth. [ 04 / GOOD TO KNOW ]

A few details.

Read the connection guide
What is Adam MCP?

MCP connects your AI client to Adam's engineering tools, tasks, and files. You can ask your client to work through Adam while keeping the conversation in the workspace you already use.

Do I need another subscription?

MCP uses your existing Adam account and workspace. Adam usage is billed through that account under your plan; your AI client's own subscription or usage charges are separate.

Do I need desktop CAD installed?

You can start with Adam's sandbox modeling tools without desktop CAD. To work in a native CAD application, connect that application to Adam separately. Signing in through MCP does not install or pair it.

Will I see a CAD viewer in my chat?

Task panels and interactive CAD views depend on your client's support for MCP Apps and file previews. In other clients, Adam can still work with tasks and files through its tools.

What can my AI client access?

You choose a workspace and review permissions when you connect. Your workspace's API and MCP policy still applies. Revoke access any time in Adam under Settings → Developer → Connected apps.
