AI for mechanical engineering

Adam vs Leo AI

Leo AI (getleo.ai) is an AI assistant for mechanical engineers: it answers engineering questions, runs calculations and finds parts across your PLM and vendor catalogs. It isn’t LEO, the SOLIDWORKS companion. Adam is an AI mechanical engineer that works across your CAD, simulation and PLM tools. Here is how they compare, with sources.

Two different tools

Adam

An AI mechanical engineer for hardware teams. It plugs into the workspace you already have, so there is no new CAD app to learn and nothing to migrate.

  • 01Works inside the CAD you already use: Onshape, Autodesk Fusion, SOLIDWORKS and Rhino
  • 02Drawing to 3D, CAD-to-FEA loops, ECO-driven part edits and DFM checks
  • 03SOC 2 compliant, and your data stays private on enterprise plans

Leo AI

An AI assistant for mechanical engineers that answers questions from your PLM data and engineering sources, runs calculations, finds parts and generates CAD assemblies.12

  • 01Answers grounded in your PLM data and 1M+ engineering sources1
  • 02Part search across your PLM and 120M+ vendor parts1
  • 03SOC 2 Type II; never trains on Business and Enterprise data3

[ 03 / 06 ]Which to choose

Each one fits a different job

Choose Adam if

  • 01You want an agent that does the CAD work across your tools: drawings to models, ECO-driven edits, simulation loops and DFM checks.
  • 02You want CAD and simulation connected in a loop, not only engineering calculations.
  • 03You want part changes to start from real failure data in your PLM and simulation tools.

Choose Leo AI if

  • 01Your engineers mostly need answers: formulas, calculations and cited engineering sources.1
  • 02You want to find and reuse parts across your PLM and large vendor catalogs.12
  • 03Your data lives in Windchill, Teamcenter or Onshape and you want AI search across it.2

Adam vs Leo AI: questions

01What is the difference between Adam and Leo AI?

Leo AI focuses on engineering knowledge: answers from your PLM data and engineering sources, calculations and part search, plus CAD generation. Adam is an AI mechanical engineer that works across your CAD, simulation and PLM tools, from prompts and drawings to ECO-driven edits, CAD-to-FEA loops and DFM checks.12

02Is Leo AI the same as LEO in SOLIDWORKS?

No. LEO is a virtual companion built into SOLIDWORKS by Dassault Systèmes. Leo AI (getleo.ai) is a separate product. We compare Adam with SOLIDWORKS’ AI on its own page.15

03Which tools does Leo AI work with?

Leo AI lists SolidWorks, Onshape, CATIA and Inventor for CAD, and Windchill, Teamcenter and Onshape for data.2

04Is Adam SOC 2 compliant?

Yes. Adam is SOC 2 compliant, and your data stays private on enterprise plans. Leo AI says it is SOC 2 Type II certified.3
